Summer Camp

Every year Muskerry Pony Club organises a residential camp during the first week of July.  For decades this camp was held in the beautiful grounds of Ryecourt Estate in Cloughduv.  Three years ago circumstances forced a move, at rather short notice,  to a new venue at Carrigdarrery House, Lissarda, where a very sucessful week was enjoyed by 54 members and their ponies in 2015, and by a record 62 members in July 2016 and again by 55 members in 2017.
Thank you to our wonderful instructors who make this event so formative and so memorable for all participants.  Thanks also to the hard-working Muskerry parents who paint poles, build cross-country fences, secure paddocks, cook, clean up, supervise, and dismantle everything and pack it away until next year.  The running of Camp is a 'Big Ask' of the parents every year, but we all rise to the challenge and get the job done.
To stay at Camp overnight (in a caravan or tent provided by you), you must be over 12 years, and have been a member of the Club for at least a year.  Your pony may stay too, in a field with the other ponies.  Recent members, and the under 12's attend with their ponies on a daily basis.  Camp usually costs 220 Euro approx.
You must have attended at least five mounted rallies since July 2017 to be eligible to attend Summer Camp 2018.
Summer Camp 2018 will be held from Sunday 1 July to Friday 6 July.

Camp Rota

The expectation is that each family with a member attending Camp will do one substantial job (e.g. overnight supervision), or several smaller jobs (e.g. other supervision slots, cooking a meal).  Breda Keane (087 6112769) is compiling the Rota, so contact her as soon as possible to secure your preference.  Unfilled slots will then be allocated to the remaining families.  We also expect families to help prepare the grounds at Carrigdarrery beforehand, and to help dismantle Camp and tidy up on Friday evening, so that we leave everything as we found it.  Every family must please take at least one bag of rubbish home with them on Friday.  Thanks in advance to everyone for their efforts!  It couldn’t happen without everyone’s help.
